Get ready for exciting soccer action with the debut of Macomb County’s new “pre-pro” soccer club! On January 25th, USL revealed that Union FC is embarking on its inaugural season in USL League Two in 2024.
The club is driven by a mission to provide a premier soccer program for young adult players aspiring to reach professional and national team levels. At the core of the club’s philosophy is the belief that soccer transcends sport, creating experiences and connections that are vital to building, contributing to, and strengthening communities.
Adding to this belief is the core value that Union Football Club Macomb is for Michigan players. We believe that Michigan has a vibrant soccer culture with incredible talent to foster and showcase. We will be the destination for these top players to fulfill their dreams and for local fans and families to experience great soccer in their community.
Gronthik Chatterjee, President of Union FC Macomb shared, “We are excited to join USL League Two with the aim of inspiring and cultivating the beautiful game in Macomb County, the Detroit Metro area, and Michigan. Our vision is to establish an environment of the highest sporting standards, providing a platform for young players to pursue their soccer aspirations. League Two offers the ideal setting for us to achieve this ambition, being a respected regional and national league with proven player development pathways.”
Joel Nash, USL SVP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties, expressed his excitement, stating, “We’re incredibly thrilled to welcome Union FC Macomb to League Two. Michigan has a rich soccer history, and we look forward to being part of the club’s journey in contributing to that legacy.”
